Gilded Parrot™ Beard Balm
The part everybody sees.
Oil conditions. Balm behaves.
The balm does what the oil does and then stays put. It carries the same cedarwood, pine needle and vetiver, and it is built on tallow we render ourselves, African ivory shea butter and beeswax, so it conditions the skin and gives the beard enough hold to sit where you put it. A light hold, not a wax: it still moves like hair instead of setting like a helmet.
Warm a little between your palms until it goes clear, work it through, shape it. Most people use the oil every day and the balm on the days it matters.

What's in it
- Beef tallow, rendered from suet
- Rich fats that stay put.
- The same suet-rendered tallow that goes in the TaloVera™ jar. It is what makes the hold feel like conditioning instead of wax.
- African ivory shea butter
- Softens and conditions.
- The unrefined kind, pale and soft, and the body of the balm.
- Jojoba oil
- Closest plant match to skin's own oil.
- The reason it soaks in instead of sitting on top.
- Fractionated coconut oil (MCT)
- Light, and sinks in.
- Coconut oil with the heavy fats removed so it never goes solid in the tin.
- Olive squalane oil
- Conditions, and helps skin hold moisture.
- Drawn from olives. It absorbs faster than anything else in the tin.
- Argan oil
- Softens.
- The one the barbers charge extra for.
- Oat silk
- Conditions, and smooths the feel of the hair.
- A light oat-derived conditioner. It is what takes the coarseness off.
- Beeswax
- Structure, and a light hold.
- What turns the oils into a balm. Enough to hold a shape, not enough to set hard.
- Castor oil
- Adds body.
- Thick and slow, for slip and shine.
- Vitamin E oil (tocopherols)
- Helps the oils keep.
- So the tin stays fresh to the bottom.
- Cedarwood essential oil
- The base of the scent.
- Dry, woody, quiet. The card calls the blend Swashbuckler.
- Pine needle essential oil
- The top of the scent.
- Fresh cut, and it fades first.
- Vetiver essential oil
- The floor under both.
- Smoky and earthy, a drop at a time.
In their words
Gilded Parrot™ beard balm, and when I first received it, it was dented. I reached out to Four Waters™ customer service email. They were fast and apologetic and sent me out another tin that I received free of charge in less than a week. I've been ordering the beard oil for some time now. I've tried a number of other oils and nothing compares to their Beard Oil. The smell is woodsy and amazing and I always get comments.
